Well I guess I'll start by saying that although this game loses a little appeal to me with every update (I can't tell you how many nerfed characters I have had to abandon because of this), I have loved this game from the first day I played it. Since then, I have bought 6 accounts X 3 (all 3 campaigns). As you can guess, I have a lot of characters. Almost every combination you can think of. I enjoy making powerful characters and often take them out to help new players (players having difficulties getting into parties due to being just shy of 20th level or players with less desirable classes to quest with such as assassins, rangers or mesmers).

It has recently come to my attention that my characters from Tyria and Elona suddenly have no access to places they once did. For example: Vizunah Square, Local District.

This has got to be my favorite mission in all 3 campaigns and I spend much of my time helping people get through it. However, I don't really enjoy it from the "Foreign Quarter" (you miss getting to kill 1/2 the afflicted in the 1st room!) and I am frustrated that many of my most recent characters not created in Cantha can no longer gain access to it even though they have successfully completed it from the Foreign Quarter.

To get to Local as a Tyrian/Elonan, go to Marketplace and help a Canthan group with "Mayhem in the Marketplace."

You also have to complete the Zen Daijun mission.

It's explained in the Notes section of the GuildWiki here.

I think what he means is that there is NO LONGER access to these missions,IE: They once did have access but due to a recent update they don't anymore.

But yes i have played my necro recently in tombs for the first time since the soul reaping nerf (meaning my first time trying out playing a necro with changed soul reaping) and i can say i am officially done playing necro, that made me so irritated and pissed off that i don't even care about the class anymore personally. but thats just from my experience its not a rant, just a statement about personal irritation with it.

6 accounts, 3 campaigns each? let's say 30 bucks each, that's cheap too.

18x30=234.

No way you've spent 234 bucks on this game. Secret please.

6 x 3 x 30 = $540, not $234.

Hi, there,

I don't see changes in the Update Notes, and as you know, we do try very hard to include all changes to the game in those notes. That allows players to keep up on what's happening, and it also helps alert us if an unintended change got incorporated into the game due to an update. However, I think the players who answered this thread are correct: If you follow the proper sequence, you should find that your character has access to the area you seek.

If this is not the case, please post and I will ask our team to take a look right away.

Why do you need that many accounts? You realize you can just get extra character slots, right?

It did indeed work to first go through Zen Daijun and then help a factions character get through Mayhem in the Market! :-)
Thanks again for all the help everyone!
And yes I have spent a small fortune on this game. However, if you enjoy something as much as I enjoy this game it’s worth the price.

I guess the real question is why spend a small fortune? You can do it all with 1 account. Buy extra slots for more characters or mules. You know you can change secondaries right? I just don't see why you need to have more than 1-2 accounts (2 is nice to be able to run yourself or trade with yourself, etc. But not even really needed since being able to add slots)

For those fairly new to the game, originally you were limited by the number of characters per account (4 at first, then 6, then the ability to buy new characters). The ability to buy new character slots was not always there.

Strange, just 2-3 days ago I played the mission from both "Local" and "Foreign" because I had to map the area.

I am his wife and I also have 6x3 copies of the game, lol.

In fact, when I tried to order a whole bunch of copies of one of the campaigns from the online store, PlayNC claimed that I was committing fraud and wouldn???t send all the copies, even over time. I got three copies by that method and now even when I try to order anything, it says that we can???t because we are on Fraud alert. What a pain!

I also agree with the Soul Reaping problem. My husband had a whole account full of Necros with each one having a different 2nd class. Now he doesn???t play any of them. The whole account is dead to him.

(btw ??? Yes, as CyberNigma says, we had the game before you could easily change the 2nd class. Nor was there any option to buy character slots at that time).

Well to be honest when I first started playing this game they did not yet offer the extra slots. It was also not as easy to change your second class as it is today. You would have to port to the profession changer each time. Thus, I bought 6 accounts. Extreme? Maybe.
Come to think of it, I had 6 accounts before my first character even made it to a profession changer. lol
It would be nice to merge some of these accounts. If I could make 3 big accounts, one for each of my guilds. That would be nice.

Even porting to the town back then I didnt think it was that much of a problem. Its not like you really needed to change secondaries all that often. In pve I hardly change secondaries at all if ever.

So you two have spent 1,080 bucks on this game? I don't believe it.

It was always real easy to change secondary. In the time you could get a character through the game, you could easily have done all the secondary quests. Why make a new character?

If you guys really have done what you've said, props guys, that's some raw, hardcore dedication. Or a real bad habit.

Woah, it was an intended feature for Tyrian characters to be able to do Local district?

Neato. :O

Default Here's why

Honestly, we never did any research on the game. We just liked it right away, made four characters immediately and wanted more characters (or at least I did). We didn???t know there would be added campaigns, so we thought we were only buying the one game.

Also, we had a lot of low level characters running around, never to reach being able to change their 2nd class for a long time because of playing so many at a time.

Besides, I role-play my characters, giving them a history that???s independent from the game???s story but explains why they are there. How could I switch my fire ele to an earth or air ele without her personality (and history I made up for her) changing completely? It???s better to have 3 different eles with 3 different personalities.

This is also my first online game. Before that, I figured that I was not an on-line gamer. I only played games like Morrowind or Neverwinter Nights or the Balder???s Gate series way back on a LAN with buddies.

My husband, prior to GWs was mostly a FPS gamer who would occasionally try to play RPGs, but he usually wanted more action and always preferred on-line games.

I???m just happy that finally there is a game that we both like and both want to play all of the time. I have been waiting a long time for that!

We also make new characters to travel with any of our friends that we introduce the game too. If they make 3 characters at the beginning, we make 3 new characters to go with them. It really doesn???t help them if we are 20th level and they are 3rd level and we go adventuring and kill everything just by pointing at who to kill.

Even now, I have two new monks I made. I want them to travel with one of my best friends who has moved back to Japan and gotten married. She married a gamer and she has gamed a bit with the SIMS so now, this month she is buying a new video card and they both will be playing GWs with us soon.

The only thing is I told them that Factions was by far the best introductory game (in my opinion). I just find the story so amusing and I love the school/training idea. It???s perfect and I know that she will like it!

As it happens, I have far too many Factions characters and very few Elona characters. So I made two monks in Elona and had them run over to the monastery ??? one is for when just my friend and I play without the men (perhaps they will be off killing things ??? we will go shoes shopping in the monastery).

I did all the low level quests that I could while trying my best to not collect xp and keep my new monks??? levels very low. This way, I can be the same level as my friends and quest with them in Factions and die just like them because we will all be the same level.

However, when they go to the monastery to level up, I can just port back to Elona and level up too, by collecting my xp for the completed quests I did there.

(Just a note: As of the last update, you can???t get Elona characters to Shing Jea Monastery at low level anymore. I did it just in time ??? whew!)

Anyway, I am a true role player. I have tried some PvP during special events such as snowball fighting and Beetle racing. Also, I just recently got several of my characters to try the Fort Aspenwood PvP battles and it was more fun than I had expected, but still I am all about PvE.

I don???t mind having over thirty characters to mess with. That is pretty normal for me. Having lots of characters is not so normal for my husband, but he has enjoyed experimenting with the different classes and likes to role-play also, especially with the funny festive hats ??? he always gets a laugh out of me with those.

So, in the end, it???s not a waste of money. It has been great fun, with more fun to come.

Only two worries. One is that every time there is an update, my husband gets less interested in playing because of the changes that are made to his characters and the heroes. He tests his heroes over and over and immediately notices changes for the better or worse. I wish that the constant changes would just stop.

There is a huge amount of planning and questing my husband does for skills and then hours of painful farming to get that one Boss weapon that would make his character or hero team complete.

Finally, he feels rewarded with success and can adventure with me, so we are happy for a little while. Then what happens? His build is nerfed, the reward is taken away, and the character with his customized weapon is now deletable material. What is that? It???s crazy.

I understand why he is constantly disheartened and keeps wanting to quit GWs. In PvE (because I have no real experience in PvP) so what if some characters are really powerful? If they toiled and planned to get their status, don???t they deserve the reward for it? Not everyone cares about titles. I like titles, but he doesn???t care so much. For him it???s all about reaching the bar he sets for himself - the one that keeps getting taken away.

The other worry is that I still hope that after Guild Wars 2 comes out, we can still continue to play out GW 1 with all our characters. I am working on title tracks that are dependent on finishing the games and I hope to have at least one account ready for GW2. But even with both games installed, I still want to spend a lot of time in GW1. Hopefully there will be no more changes or updates by then so that nothing will get nerfed anymore.

Anyway, I am not used to writing on Forums so I guess this does me for several months now. Yikes! Hope I didn???t bore anyone with my monologue. I just wanted to state my piece.
